OPPORTUNITIES: HYPER TEAM
While it does sound all super-hero like, it really is a bunch of events being put on for young people around the city of Swan in WA. New members are being sought for the Hyper Team, which organises the Hyper Vision art exhibition and HyperFest all ages music festival.

OPPORTUNITIES: THE JOSH PYKE MENTORSHIP
Josh Pyke (in conjunction with APRA) is offering an unsigned musician the opportunity to have a mentorship with him along with funding for future project that will nurture their career. The mentorship will include an meeting with Josh Pyke, Gregg Donovan (Wonderlick Entertainment), Stephen Wade (Select Music) to establish a business plan plus a follow up meeting three months later. Funding for the mentorship is $7500 for the lucky artist.

London duo Man Like Me have announced that they'll release their new album Pillow Talk, through Mike Skinner's (from The Streets) newly resurrected record label, The Beats on March 29. The album was also mixed and co-produced by Skinner.

Brisbane two-piece Gung Ho have signed a deal with Create/Control to release their EP to Anywhere Else on February 22nd. 2012 was quite a huge year for toutfit, unleashing two radio singles ‘Side By Side’ and most recently ‘Strangers’, plus performing on tours alongside Whitest Boy Alive, Wavves and Bleeding Knees Club.
GREENLINE BENEFIT
We sometimes see music being performed in parks, by the fire, or through the transistor while we pull the kayak from the shed, but this is a pretty awesome new way they are both coming together. Greenline Grooves is an Australian album in support of wildlife park rangers whose job is to protect endangered species, but most of the time are either caught up in gunfire in war torn areas or even the victims of poachers who want them out of the way.

THE NEVER EVER MOVING TO NEW YORK CITY
Sydney pop outfit The Never Ever will be leaving Australian shores, bound for New York to embark on the next stage of their journey. The band will collaborate with music producer Shep Goodman to record their next EP. Their 2011 debut EP Dancefloors & Dinosaurs and second EP Breathe has found them playing a national tour and being featured on various children's / youth media.
DEEZER AIN'T NO GEEZER
Global music subscription service Deezer has announced new partnerships with St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival and West Australian hip hop artist Drapht. The St. Jerome's Laneway Festival teamed up with the service to provide exclusive music streaming rights via their Laneway Radio service. The business has also claimed rights to present Drapht's upcoming Uni-Verse Tour
The service has also announced its launch in twenty-two new regions including Brazil, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates.
SUNS OF CASCADIA RISE
Queensland band Cascade have done the smart thing and realised that their are too many brands, bands and dogs named 'Cascade' for them to continue. So they've changed their name to Sons Of Cascadia in amidst a number of over things happening for the band including being a part of the upcoming Rockband 3 video game as well as being featured on on Emergenza's compilation CD that'll be sent around the world to execs, and industry folk.
ARIA CHART WATCH
Flume has ridden the wave of a great festival season to bullet to the top of the ARIA Album Chart this week. As well as four entries into triple j's Hottest 100 poll over the Australia Day weekend, Flume is planning for a strenuous touring schedule, playing Laneway and being announced on the Groovin The Moo line-up.
Sitting at #16 last week, his self-titled record beat Justin Bieber’s new album Believe Acoustic, which debuted at #2. His single Holdin’ On also re-entered the ARIA Singles Chart at #25 – it’s highest point after dwindling around the bottom of the chart late last year.
Other bullet albums came from Alt-J’sAn Awesome Wave, which is up to #12, Frank Ocean’sChannel Orange, up to #17 from #30, and Tame Impala’sLonersim, up to #21 from #33. No other debuts in the top 40 except for Alabama Shakes, who entered for the first time with Boys And Girls charting at #36 this week.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis continue their grip on the Singles Chart, with 'Same Love' featuring Mary Lambert, holding top spot and the Hottest 100-winning 'Thrift Shop' featuring Wanz, steady at #2.
Birds Of Tokyo’s new single 'Lanterns' climbed to #4 on its second week in what is shaping up to be a strong track for the band. The track was the second most added track to Australian radio when it was released (only behind Justin Timberlake’s latest single) and has featured on the TV promos for Channel Seven’s Revenge.
